Thanks for your suggestions. We thought the same thing about the two resorts. We like the whole vibe of Calabash especially the cooked breakfast in your room but the beach at Coyaba is the type of beach that we like. If we could take Calabash and plop it down on Grand Anse beach, we probably would have Spice Island which is out of our price range. We still have a month or so to decide.

I believe that you can inquire at Spice Island for room-only options, if that's a place you have your heart set on. Just be aware that food and beverage prices are pretty pricey on site, so you'd have to be careful about not eating/drinking much at the resort if you're trying to keep prices down.

There's not a lot of mention on it here or on other boards, but if you want to be on that end of Grand Anse AND you're on a budget, the Allamanda could be a good choice. It's immediately next to Coyaba, so you're on the same stretch of beach, but I'm pretty sure it's in a lower category of both price and ameneties.

Ejcrowe - I saw that hotel and remembered it because we stayed at the Alamanda in St Martin twice. We loved the St Martin hotel but they aren't related. We're hoping that we can swing something a little bit more upscale. When we reach a decision or if I have more questions, I'll post it.

Grenada is a stunning breathtaking island that will steal your heart for a lifetime. Or at least that is what has happened to me. It has everything that you are looking for and you will still likely find things you never imagined. Everything everyone says...spot on and you can't go wrong with Grenada....I have not.

With all of that in mind...for future trips please reconsider St.Kitts as well. IF nothing else to do a fabulous comparison of the two glorious islands (three if you tuck over to Nevis..). They are, of the 15+ islands I have visited...Grenada and St.Kitts, are my absolute, hands down, show stopping, favorites. The monkeys are a non event - they are somewhat hunted by local people (there are lots of them I think there may even be a wee bounty on their heads...could be wrong about that but there are too many - it is - or was - affecting the environmental balance) with all of that they remain cautious of humans. The pictures that you see likely require a certain amount of effort on the part of humans....or they are perched on their stunning balconys watching happily from a distance (by the way TBR has sunsets "to die for"....and Flamboyant in Grenada has views of stunning Grand Anse and lovely St.George's that will leave you awe struck).

Enjoy!
