Great family vacation for 3 small kids and stressed parents

We are looking for a pleasant, hassle-limited vacation in the Caribbean where we can take our 3 children ages 6,4,3. Price is not an issue and it can be AI or not. I don't want to go to Jamaica and I don't want a Sandals resort. We would be travelling from the NY area. Any suggestions?

We took our 2 year old to Caneel Bay on St John and were very happy. I have also heard that Little Dix Bay is a good place to go, but we liked St John as it was easy to go into town to eat. I think at Little Dix you are more confined, but I haven't stayed there so I can't really offer any other info. I have been looking for the same thing and the Buccaneer on St Croix has been suggested. I'm curious as to why you have ruled out Jamaica. Have you been before. We have actually decided to go there next.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking of the Buccannear as well. Debbie, have you heard anyhing about it? We've been to Jamaica twice before and just want to do something different. After reading some reviews, I think Little Dix Bay may be too stuffy. I would always be worried about my kids being on their best behavior. THanks for the response

You could try DR,(punta Cana) this place is very relaxing. Almost all AI. Puerto Rico. Short flight not any AI. Not exactly in the Caribbean but Playa Del Carmen Mexico has some nice family oriented AI. Nice beaches as well. Turks and Caicos (provo) is a very quiet Island with a gorgeous beach. You couldn't be any more relaxed than at T&C. The only AI I know is Beaches, and that is so-so. Usually very crowded with children, but they do seem to offer a nice childrens program from what I could see when we were there. Also direct flights from JFK.

Most of what I know about the Buccanear I read here. Do a search and there is some good info. There is actually a post about half moon(one of the places I am considering) that has some good info on the Buccanear. The only reason I don't want to go there right now is that I want a non-stop flight and there are none to St Croix from NY. I haven't heard a bad thing about the resort. Good luck with your trip.
