Great Caribbean Resorts

I need your help! I am helping a good friend of mine plan her honeymoon to the Caribbean. She wants to stay at an all-inclusive resort in the Western Carib....so far we've found Sandals...were looking at a good $5000 budget that has to include 2 plane tickets from Chicago to whereever. Thanks for the help!

Forgot to include that the days would be around Saturday 31st of May willing to stay up to 2 weeks if it is in the budget.

I have a suggestion - find a local travel agent that knows the islands and the resorts and explore with her/him the options. There are many all inclusive resorts across many islands as well as the Mexican Caribbean coast. Prices vary greatly.
The agent will help you narrow down the resorts and locations, and most likely will have access to packages (air/transfers/resort) that you will never find on your own.

:)

I'd recommend to go to the expedia site to look at hotels. They have great pictures and descriptions. If she finds one that she thinks looks good, then go to tripadvisor and read the reviews. There are many more AI hotels than just Sandals. I'm sure she'll find something that appeals to her individual taste. We went to Sandals Dunns River a while ago and felt that the resort had a tired look to it. The food was only average, but the cost was staggering. We'd rather go to a place where we get to eat at local places and experience the culture os the island. If she is adamant about going to an AI, make sure that she looks around and doesn't just choose Sandals because they have the best marketing with travel agents.

That budget isn't anywhere near to being adequate for 2 weeks at an upscale all-inclusive resort, but it will do one week quite nicely (and perhaps a little more than a week depending on where they want to go). It would help if we knew more about what your friend wants. Does your friend need nightlife? Excellent food? A quiet, private getaway? Diving? Golf? There are many more alternatives than Sandals and all have a different atmosphere.
