Grand Cayman: What time of year is best??

When's the absolute best time of year to go to the Caymans?
I'm looking for value along with warm & sunny weather.
Also, I don't want to be at the far North end, more toward the center of beach. What condo w/pool is the best value? Will have 2 teens with wife & self.
Thanks for any input!

Chuck -

Wait until next year when the Ritz opens up. It is supposed to be a first class luxury resort.

We always go around Thanksgiving. The weather has aways been nice for us that time of year. We stay at the Coralstone Club. It is oceanfront with two pools , and it costs around $500 a night for a three bedroom condo. It is centrally located on seven mile beach. There are other condos in a good location such as the Avalon. Go to Cayman Vacations.com.

Chuck,

The high season is from X-mas through Mid April. This is when prices are at their highest, due to this being the driest part of the year. Most rates drop right around mid-April. The rainy season officially starts around May, and goes through October/November. Although you may see a few showers here & there, odds are in your favor for the majority of your vacation to have nive weather. Most of the rain storms pass quickly. I guess optimum time to go would be the last two weeks of April. The rates will be lower, and you're not quite into the rainy season.

If you are looking for value as you mentioned, I hardly think you'll ever find value at the new Ritz. Although I'm positive this new resort will be beautiful, the cost will be outrageous.

Try checking out www.caymanvacations.com

This site lists most of the resorts & condos on 7MB. It also has a map of the area, so you can find something along the middle like you mentioned. You will find pictures & rates for all of the resorts. The site can be a bit slow, but it has a lot of info. This should help get you started.

Once you have a few places in mind, you can go to www.caribbean-on-line.com, and visit the Grand Cayman forum for info from people that have stayed at these resorts. A great forum for GC info.

I live in Grand Cayman, and I agree about the Ritz. Whereas it will be a beautiful resort, you'd better have some serious coin to survive the trip with your shirt left at the end.

As far as condos go, there are many on Seven-mile Beach that will fit your description, but your best value will indeed be in the lower season. As certain months in summer are considered the height of hurricane season (we haven't suffered from a direct hit in over 25 years, but the rain from storms in the territory can be unbelievable), I suggest you come here when you're on the fringes of low season. You can enjoy the prices, but the temperatures won't be steaming hot and there will be less chance of rain. Late November is a good time to come. Official Tourist season is Dec. 15th to April 15th.
Any other questions, feel free to write.
