grand cayman Northside or old man bay damage

Has anyone heard of amount of damage to Little spot villas on rosebud drive in old man bay off old robin road. How did the Northside fare with the hurricane. Any word if Northern Lites condos or On the bay condos are effected by the hurricane.?

The Old Man Bay area fared much better than the rest of the island. There seems to have no catastrphic damage from Olde's home on the Queen's Highway to Chisholm's market. BA and McCurley's house and dogs are fine, as is Sea Fever just west of On The Bay. We were not so fortunate down to the west. Our condo at North Pointe is one of the 4 in the 10-unit building to survive intact, but the other 6 have been pretty much destroyed. The whole building will have to be rebuilt. The Driftwood Bar is gone. All people are ok!

Any word if the apt's on rosebud drive are intact and the people staying there. They sit a little lower that BA's and McClure's. Wondering if flooding affected them and roofs intact. Very sad to hear Driftwood is gone! Fun place! Glad to hear residents ok!

My understanding is that the North Side did not have large storm surge,. so if there was flooding, it would have been from the rain only. Will try to get you updates on Rose Bud as soon as possible.

Thanks for the updates!!! Seeing lots of messages about your condo posted around on sites. Sounds like you will be rebuilding. Glad all people are okay. Have you heard any word from anyone regarding when they look to let people back onto the island to start repair work? Sounds like power may be out to the outlying areas until some time mid oct.?

I think mid-October is optimistic. Our goal now is to get generators and other supplies to the island, and, for us, to specific people on North Side.

There's a great website to check out hundreds of photo's of GC after the storm. Not sure how many are on the northside but there's a ton of pictures that tell the true story. here's the link:

just cut & paste this address into the address bar, and it'll take you somewhere in the middle of the album. If you click on "last uploads" it will take you to the beginning.
