Grand Cayman
 

I am going to Grand Cayman in November. This will be our first time there. (we usually go to Anguilla). Wanted to try something new. Can anyone suggest any restaurants? We are staying at the reef but will have a car. Would like some input on good upscale restaurants and some local eateries. We love the roadside barbecue places in Anguilla with chicken and ribs with sides but also love the waterfront upscale restaurants. Thanks for any advice.

We just got back from staying on 7 mile beach & really enjoyed our meal at The Wharf...pricey but very good & service was excellent. We didn't make it for the 9pm tarpin feeding but they start to swim around waiting for food about 6pm which was fun to watch. Our favorite beach bar with jerk chicken was Calico Jack's on 7 mile beach. Enjoy! We loved the island!

hi chris, we just got home too. however we stayed on the north side near rum point. when you go to rum point - you go by 2 huge comm towers shortly before you get to rum point. directly across from the 2nd tower is the house we rented - called thatch hill.
you are going to love the reef. huge beach, fun atmosphere.

we had a soso dinner at kaibo yacht club with drinks about $200. we enjoyed their beach bar food more, but the burger was kinda dry.
we had a wonderful meal at the rum point restaurant for about the same amount. nice atmosphere, we reserved for sunset time.
for a little funk & local atmosphere try 'on the edge'. you'll see it on the way to rum point on ocean side. we had breakfast. very not fancy but tasty and generous. (bacon came with my bfast - 5-6 pieces).
we intended to try a place called rolands. the chef cooks what he chooses. you'll pass it on the way to the reef, just past the north sound road. you must have a reservation and no credit cards and byob. it is supposed to be very good. reef will get you the phone #.
turning left from the reef, you'll come to gun bay. tiny arlaine's and viviene's are near compass point resort are sort of roadside for lunch.

if you like plants/flowers at all go to the botanical gardens on the north sound road. plan about 2 hrs. and take your camera

we did go to 7 mile one day. did the turtle farm which i did not like very much. and had a wonderful lunch at guy harvey's, with fun view of the harbor and cruise ships.

Two of our favorite upscale restaurants within an easy drive are Portofino's and the Lighthouse. We hang out a lot at Over the Edge for good local food at a more reasonable price. The are a couple of jerk stands in Bodden Town, Rankins on the west side of town and Woods on the east.

Deckers. Check for the All you can eat Lobster. Tuesdays? Excellent blood orange Mojitos. Lobster tails. Good stuff! Inside you feel it's a "nice" rest., outside same food and service. Lobster Pot used to be a nice meal, haven't been in years. Chicken! Chicken! Great carryout. IF you want to stay in and get delivery there is a great service, can't remember the name....Dine In I think. Lots of choices, were always quicker than we were expecting. Cimbaco-casual lunch spot, variety of dishes. Have a wonderful trip. I Love Cayman!.

Hello Chris, you should definitely go to The Lighthouse and I agree that The Edge has great
food at a more reasonable price. If you are in Georgetown you might want to try Casanova's
which is right on the water...great Italian menu. Our favorite in the seven mile beach area is
Neptunes! ( just down from the Governors house on West Bay Road). The food is consistently great and everyone there is welcoming and very friendly. I'm realizing, as I write, that there are so many different, but equally wonderful restaurants! The Westin Hotel offers a great "Pirates Night buffet"... it's setting on the beach is absolutely beautiful. Lastly, you could get directions to Calypso Grill, in the West Bay area...a favorite of many. I could keep going with more..
You'll just have to keep coming back to the island... we do! Have a fantastic vacation (be sure to do the Stingray City trip)

I love Ragazzi for pizza (to go)...wonderful wood grilled pizza. I second cassanovas (request an outside table, waterfront) and I love the grilled dolphin sandwiches w/ jerk mayo at Sunset house...my bar. If you stay at a condo, go to georgetown and buy fresh caught fish from the local fisherman, makes an incredible dinner. To be honest, almost all of the food is fantastic in Cayman.
