i getting ready to leave for the Cayman Islands -- anyone have experiences there -- hotels (reasonable, yet great) -- places to visit -- things to expect -- favorite restaurants -- any info that can help make this vacation even more memorable.

Colleen-We go to Cayman almost yearly for the past 12years. I have alot of reccommendations but I have little to reply at this time.
We stay at the Plantana condos Private and quiet on what I consider the best beach area on 7 mile--It just down from the new Westin. Further down around graveyard site ( good snorkel area) there are some reasonable condos. Closer to Georgetown there are some reasonable hotels for divers maybe not with the views but the price is right!
Lots of good resturants--Our favorite is the Crow's Nest--good local fare with quiet view -
good Sunset--The Warf close to town-good food--good Sunset--a little expensive Many more suggestions---E-mail me for more specific questions.

If time permits you must visit Stingray City.It is incredible.Also be sure and sample the rum cake. Have fun.

Am going to Grand Cayman this summer with husband and 14 yr. old daughter. Staying at Morritt's Tortuga Club. Know anything about it? We love to
snorkel, any info on best spots or tours appreciated. Should we rent a car? Thanks!

Kathleen and Susan, here are some suggestions: Kathleen - Morritts Tortuga Club is on the east end of the island, about 40 minute drive from Georgetown. Nice resort but rather isolated. I don't know about snorkeling there but the surf can be a bit rougher on that side of the island than on 7 Mile Beach. You will definitely want a car,especially if you stay at MTC. Try Coconut Car rentals - well maintained cars at competitive rates. They have a web site and a toll free number. Reasonable snorkeling at Smith Cove, Cemetary Reef, and Eden Rocks just south of Georgetown (look for the dive shop that sits on the ocean side of the road. You should be able to enter the water from there). Of course, you must go to Rum Point and sign up for a Stingray Sandbar snorkel trip - it's a Grand Cayman classic. Susan - March is a perfect time to go. Late winter, and spring is terrific in the the Caribbean. I recommend lodging reservations because it is still high season until about April 15th and you might be left stranded. There are a few reasonably priced bed and breakfasts available that are a short walk from a beach just outside Georgetown. Call the Cayman Islands Tourism Board at (800) 346-3313 and request free info and referrals. Just about everything in the Cayman Islands is expensive plus the USD being worth 20 percent less than the Cayman dollar adds to the problem.

Leaving on 02/21 for a week at Morritts Tortuga Club on East end of island. I have info on snorkeling, I will have a car. Mostly insterested in restaurants and any nite life. Any casino? You mentionned the Crows Nest. I presume that is near 7 mile beach. Any additional help would be appreciated.
