GPS in ST Martin

We are going to St. martin and renting a car, would it be wise to bring along our GPS?

It has been a while since I was in St. Martin but I am sure it still has the one road that goes around the island and on most days you can go around the island in 45 minutes. The only traffic was when the cruise ships came in and on the French side near the mall.

I say no, the road is one big circle!

I GPS is absolutely the LAST thing you need on this island !

It is only 37 square miles in all, and there is only the one main road which circles the island.

If you get lost - which is very difficult to do - just keep on driving and eventually you will finish up where you started !

Thanks for the replies! That's one less thing to take up room in the suitcase!

Another question---Is the water ok to drink from the tap or do we need to buy bottled water while there?

I should of added would the GPS be helpful for finding restaurants or bars or are things close to the main road?

You won't have any trouble finding restaurants, bars or anything for that matter - leave the GPS at home.

You CAN drink the water in most places - certainly in decent hotels and restaurants - but many people do still request bottled water which is not cheap, and is a terrific source of profit to the establishments concerned.

I always find it somewhat amusing when they then add copious quantities of ice which in many beach bars and cheaper restaurants has frequently been made straight from unfiltered tap water !

Traffic will also back up when the bridge goes up in Simpson Bay. Have a great time!
