Good resort in Jamaica

I may be going to Jamaica in May and need to know of a good resort for a single woman in her late 30's. I may be taking a female friend with me. I don't even know what island to go to. Any suggestions?

Is there more than one island in Jamaica? I am not being snide.....I have only been once and don't know.
What sort of experience/atmosphere are you looking for - Jamaica has a lot to choose from - beaches, cliff resorts, mountain resorts, all-inclusives seem to abound and - while not my cup of tea - are very popular, especially along the negril beach. once you give some preferences you will be overwhelmed with responses!

Jamaica is one island as opposed to say the Bahamas which have several to choose from. It would help to be more specific about interests and so on.

The Treasure Beach area on Jamaica's SOUTH COAST may match your wishlist. See the community Web site at www.treasurebeach.net for a full spectrum of accomodations at every pricepoint; few resorts per se, mainly upmarket inns, boutique hotel, guesthouses and private villas. The last weekend in May also features the 4th annual Calabash Literary Festival.

Jilly,

You need to list what you are looking for in your vacation in order to get better responses.
