Good place to stay with kids?

My family and I are planning a trip in Feb and I don't know where to stay! Our kids are 7 and 11...we want a great pool & beach and relaxed atmosphere. Nightlife not important. We want to be able to sightsee -- see Old San Juan, the rainforest, anything else that people suggest. Any ideas/help? Thx so much!

Hyatt Hacienda Del Mar/Hyatt Dorado is one big resort with a river pool, water slide etc. HDM is condos which are great for families. It is about 40 minutes from SJ but closer to the rainforest. Our kids were 6 and 10 and had a ball. We are owners at HDM. Do a search for more comments.

In above, I should have said Puerto Rico! We're going to Puerto Rico. And we're not looking for a bargain, just somewhere nice.

Eileen: Is there a minimum stay requirement? And the drive to Old San Juan: Is it an easy drive, or awful traffic? Thx much for the info.

Thecondos at the Hyatt resort are a good choice. We took the grandchildren, 8 and 4, and they loved the river pool. THe river pool is at the Hyatt Cerromar which closed recently. The condos are on the same property so the river pool is right there. If you stay at the Hyatt Dorado you would have to take a shuttle bus to the river pool. The resort is nowhere near the rain forest. The Hyatt property is abouit 25 miles west of San Juan. THe rain forest is about 20 miles east of San Juan. A car would be useful, and traffic is not the best. We have also taken thje graandchildren to the El San Juan, the Ritz Carlton and the Intercontinental, all of which are in Isla Verde (near th airport). They favored the pool at the EL San Juan (a Wyndham). All have a good beach.

Sorry for the misinformation about the rainforest, you can tell I have never been there. Thought about it last year but the kids were having such a great time at the Hyatts they weren't that interested. I did not think the drive to SJ from Dorado is bad and it is worth it to stay outside of SJ unless you are specifically looking for a city atmosphere. Dorado is its own little paradise. You can actually take the ferry from nearby into SJ, that is a better way to go, they run every hour I believe. We did this two trips ago on a tour through the Hyatts - they shuttle you to the ferry and then pick you up later. Spent about 4 hours in old SJ which for us was fine. Not sure about the minimu stay requirement, do know that if you pretend to be interested in a timeshare, they have introductory packages that are very reasonable. You prob. have to go to a timeshare presentation but it was not hard sell, these places are selling themselves.
