Good/Bad Caribbean Honeymoon experiences??

Help!! - my honeymoon is in Jan. and I have yet to make plans. We've decided on the Caribbean but obviously need to narrow our search. We'd like to avoid areas hit by the recent hurricanes, we'd prefer something a little more secluded but also safe. Oh and we're non-drinkers (if that matters). Does anyone have an island/resort suggestion given those parameters?? any places we should avoid? please given color if helpful.

You need to give us a little more information about your likes and dislikes. Since no one island "has it all" tell us what type of island your are seeking (flat coral based with long expansive white sand beaches, hilly islands with medium sized golden sand beaches or lush volcanic islands with tall mountains, rainforests and smaller or darker sand beaches) and what type of amenities your ideal resort should have (pool, watersports, casinos, sailing, snorkeling, diving, etc.) your budget, etc. and it will be easier to help you. While Grenada and Grand Cayman were hit pretty hard by hurricanes this season the majority of islands escaped any damage so your choices are fairly wide open. You can find safe, and resorts that offer secluded areas on almost every island. As for being non-drinkers, well, that's easy anywhere you just don't order alcholic beverages (bartenders will make just about any drink "virgin") - pleople do that all the time. On more thing, January is a very busy time in the Caribbean so don't dely too much lomger picking your spot, also expect to pay top dollar as that is "high season".

We absolutely loved our honeymoon at Jumby Bay in Antigua...but definitely research your own likes/dislikes as your tastes may be different. Good luck with your plans!

We love the caribbean but went to the French Polynesian Islands for our honeymoon. Can't say enough about it - beautiful, relaxing, friendly and not crowded! Perfect couples place!

If you have the budget, Aruba is terrific. They have consistently good weather and plenty of non all-inclusive hotel options. (Something you might want if you're not drinkers). The island has gorgeous white sand beaches and offers lots to do, whether it's hiking or windsurfing lessons or renting a Jeep and trying to find the natural hotsprings. Suggested romantic hotel pick: Bacuti Beach Resort. In addition to the Fodors site, check out www.aruba-bb.com for more info. Congratulations and good luck!
