Getting to St Barth's via SXM or SJU?

Hi St Barth experts:

which is a more convenient way to get to St. Barth's? via Puerto Rico on Tradewinds Aviation or St Maarten on Winair?

Also what is the usual average fare to St Barths from NYC? Im guessing about $800-1000? We plan to go during Christmas week.

Thanks in advance.

fly to SXM and take the ferry over! Although the plane ride in would be fun!

We have taken that ferry to St Barths from St Marten before and it wasnt enjoyable. The seas are petty rough. But that was in June. Is it calmer in December?

Tradewinds is slightly more reliable than Winair so flying in from SJU is somewhat better however the difference is not all that significant. If your intent is to fly into St. Barts than choose the route that either gets you there in the shortest time or offers the lowest fare whichever s more important to you.

Sorry, can't give you guidance on cost of airfare from NYC other than to say it won't be cheap, especially at Christmas time. I think your pricing estimates are probably going to be pretty accurate.

Ferry from SXM could be rough as you cross some open water - it's nicknamed the "Vomit Comet" for a reason.

Tradwinds is the way to go, but it's easily $900 each round trip from SJU. So if you can get to SJU for $100 bucks, you can make your budget! Check out St. Barth's Commuter, a little less expensive from SXM, but fewer flights than Winair. They fly out of Grand Case & PJIA.
