Getting away in June

I need some advice and suggestions as to which Caribbean island/s would be your top choice to visit for a total-relax, beach vacation in mid-June considering the weather? Have already been to Aruba, Curacao, Cancun and Bahamas. What I don’t want is somewhere that has a great resort but its not safe to leave it without an escort.

Your request is very general but given your parameters Providenciales (Turks & Caicos), Vieques, Culebra, St. John, St. Croix, any of the British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, St. Kitts, Nevis, Antigua, Barbuda, Barbados, Grenada, all of the Grenadines and St. Lucia come to mind.

Weather should be nice that time of year on any of the islands.

should have been more specific....basically we prefer pools to beaches and all inclusives. Basically what we like to do is sightsee part of the day either on our own or as part of a tour and spend rest of the day at the pool, enjoying a drink or two. If an island is just beaches, thats not for us

Lots of All Inclusives in the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Cozumel and Playa del Carmen.

Lots of suggestions on your previous thread.

ya forget Jamaica and DR, poverty stricken backwaters in which you are encouraged to remain on the resort. As for Playa, how much difference does it offer in terms of sightseeing from Cancun

<Jamaica and DR, poverty stricken backwaters in which you are encouraged to remain on the resort>

Well between those two islands, I've done 5 different trips. I never stayed on a "resort". Just a normal local hotel or renting a house. I did not see "poverty stricken backwaters" rather lovely tropical islands and beaches.

Have you ever been to either of them?

I follow Canadian travel advisories

Canadian travel advisories told you these two islands are "poverty stricken backwaters"?

I am surprise they would give that kind of advice.

jelijo Aug 7th, 2017 06:00 PM

well that's my comments, read the advisories for yourself. they recommend travellers not to travel outside the resorts on their own during the day

While technically not in the Caribbean, I would also look at Bermuda. June is lovely in Bermuda.

I don't need to read the advisories. Since I've been to both of those islands myself a few times.
