Anon,
I DID NOT post the last post today.
It was posted on Monday.
There were two obscene anti-gay posts this morning that fodors.com apparently deleted and then topped mine.
Stop spending so much of your time obsessing over me and what I do...

Anon, I was puzzled about it also because I did not post anything additional on the thread after Monday. It was topped this morning by posts by 2 nasty gay-bashers, then the thread disappeared.
I only wish I had the ability to recall something that long word for word two days after I wrote it - not to mention do all that research again.
I do not repeat my posts - with the exception of the dolphin one.

To follow up my previous post I will add:

From http://www.freep.com/features/travel/gay16_20020616.htm

The Caribbean is not the most gay-friendly place in the world," Wilson says. "Some of the islands are extremely homophobic."
For instance, the tagline "couples-only" at resort chains like Sandals is defined in strictly heterosexual terms.
But attitudes vary greatly from one island to the next, and several, notably Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, have strong ties to the gay community and actively market to it in the United States. Gay-friendly lodgings are found in Jamaica (Mockingbird Hill), the British Virgin Islands (Cooper Island Beach Club) and the Dominican Republic (Amigos).

Hope this helps some.

Thanks for the support and the hosesty about gay travel anon and, just a thought and others. Misinformation is as scarey as no iformation. And the inquiry was for specific islands, the Virgin Islands.

My partner and I (we are both male) went to St. Croix in 2001 staying at the Cormorant Beach Club and rented a villa in St. John this past April. The St. Croix trip was extremely relaxing. St. Croix is not the greatest island, but if you want a very nice, clean beachfront resort with a good restaurant, awsome beachside bar, awsome views, nice beach and is mostly gay, the Cormorant is highly recommended. We rarely had any need to leave the resort but did venture into Christianstead to shop, eat and catch a nice private sail out to Buck Island (snorkeling comparable to St. John). We felt very comfortable and safe in Christianstead and St. Croix as a whole. St. John on the other hand is an extremely straight island. Many, many honeymooners, cruise ship day visitors and families. The beaches and snorkeling are probably the most amazing, visually vibrant, incredible places on earth. Go to St. John at least once! The locals in Cruz Bay weren't the most outgoing but were helpful if you had a question. We rented a beautiful villa in Coral Bay, renting through Caribbean Villas. The agent who guided us to the villa appeared a bit puzzled but remained friendly when she realized two men were sharing this villa for a week. Coral Bay (and St. John for that matter) is a pretty isolated place, so you won't be seeing any gay (let alone straight) nightlife at all. You will unlikely see many people during your stay on this end of the island. I did sense a little curiosity from the locals about two men traveling together to such a romantic place when we attended the monthly Full Moon Party at Miss Lucy's. All were really quite friendly though.

Overall, the Caribbean is not the most gay-frienly spot in the world but I would certainly recommend going there. I just think the islanders down there dislike flamboyant outsiders, gay or straight. We are considering a return visit to Cormorant next year and would also consider the Peter Island resort (only drawback is lack of electricity) or Turks and Caicos. Anybody know of a cool place to stay there for two guys?

I hope this info. helps in your decision. Don't hesitate to visit the Caribbean. Just go down, be yourself and enjoy!
