Galley Bay Closure

Have been advised of the following, anyone any idea what is happening for how long?
"Rob Barrett, the owner, was interviewed for an article in the Antigua Sun of July 13th.
"Galley Bay will close its doors on 1 Sept., at the end of the tourist season to facilitate additional construction work.""

Just checked the Galley Bay website and apparently Galley Bay will be closed from August 27 to October 1, 2005.

That's not unusual - lots of Caribbean resorts close in September and October. It's peak hurricane season so there's a lack of tourists and it's a good opportunity for the resorts to do renovations, repaintng and general sprucing up.

It appears a news item on elites web site states they have to do repairs to a water main and are taking the opportunity to spruce up the pool area and some other 'things' they do not explain. Hopefully it will be even better than some visitors suggest when we go in April 2006.

And I had reservations for my honeymoon at Galley Bay in mid-September. Any suggestions on similar, all-inclusive Caribbean resorts?

Sorry to hear about the honeymoon, surely as their announcement was made July 13 they have contacted your TA to offer alternative accommodation. If not suggest you contact your TA to harrass them. We have been in the past to Le Sport on St Lucia and enjoyed it albeit some haven't, good luck in your holiday and married life.
