From SFO to the Caribbean. Where to this year?

A few years back, we got some wonderful advice from the great members of this forum and wound up at the Seven Stars Resort in Turks and Caicos!

It was an incredible trip!

It is now time to return to the Caribbean. (Looking at the first week in May 2014)

Where to now?

We will be flying from San Fran and want to spend a week.

Basically, kick back relax in sun on a beautiful beach with cocktail nearby, eat well, some exploring, some boat rides.

The idea is to let my hardworking wife decompress!!!

I won't tell you my thoughts yet.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

Puerto Rico, Grand Cayman, St Thomas/St John, there are so many places but SFO to any of them is a long haul. Try for only one stop as I can't think of any direct and you only have a week. Why are your thoughts a secret?? They might help us help you!!!

If you liked TCI, you'll like Anguilla. Gorgeous beaches, even better restaurants (shhh, don't tell anyone I said so, I love Turks and Caicos!)

(thoughts secret because I wanted unbiased suggestions.)

My first thought was Anguilla! (well done blamona!)

Thanks amer_can, I haven't considered any of those.

I was considering Anguilla, St. Bart's and St. Lucia

As far as travel.. We fly into Miami for a day both inbound and outbound just to prevent super long travel days.

Is it possible to do both Anguilla and St. Bart's or is that foolish thinking? (the week can be extended)

It is possible to do both Anguilla and St. Barts.

You can either fly between them (expensive) or ferry to St. Martin then Ferry to St. Barts. (the long way)

But doable.

I didn't even think to check into flying from one to the other. The harrowing landing in St. Bart's might be worth the airfare!

it is an exciting landing!

I'd suggest staying in the British Virgin Islands. There are so many beautiful places to see. If you charter a yacht vacation (lucky you!) your captain will take you to uninhabited islands as well as taking you to the more popular places like Foxy's on Jost van Dyke.

Caribbean's so far and not real easy to get to from the west coast. I usually go to Mexico or Hawaii instead (from Seattle).

Thanks Suze. Been to Hawaii and Mexico many times, no need to go back there. I'll look into British Virgin Islands. thank you PVC!!
