Four Seasons Nevis, Landings St. Lucia or Cotton Bay St. Lucia

We narrowed down our choices for a family trip to Four Seasons Nevis, The Landings St. Lucia (villa) or Cotton Bay St. Lucia (villa) for mid May. Children traveling in our party are ages 4 and 5. Can anyone give comparisons, opinions, pros, cons, etc. Kids club, beach, rooms and luxury are important factors. Thanks!

Think we may go with Four Seasons Nevis. Anyone have any comments or tips regarding rooms, kid's club, beach and off-site restaurants? Does the resort schedule any daily events/activities? Thanks!

At Four Seasons you have three basic room types - Beachfront, Garden View and Mountain View and two basic locations - ground floor and second story. One is not necessarily better than another they are just different - all are conveniently located and give you full access to the resort's amenities. Pick the room category/location that most fits your lifestyle/family needs.

The Kid's Club at the 4S is highly rated with plenty of interesting activities that change on a daily basis. The staff is well trained so there's not much you have to do but drop your kids off in the morning and pick them up later in the day.

The resort offers numerous fee based activities for the adults including tennis, golf, spa treatments, deep sea fishing, day sails, island tours, non-motorized water craft, water skiing, SCUBA, etc. Simply check with the concierge/Activities Director and they will do their best to make you happy. The resort also has live music in the evenings.

The beach at the resort is quite nice with plenty of lounge chairs/umbrellas for use by resort guests - there are 3 pools (one adults only).

Thank you Roamsaround! Are any of the restaurants aside from the beach bars you mention, within walking distance of the 4S? For ones that are not within walking distance, is it hard or expensive to get transportation? You list a lot of restaurants, are there any that are particularly noteworthy and a "must go" place (like a Madam Jeanette's in Aruba, Rick's Cafe in Negril, Bloody Mary's in Bora Bora, etc.)? Thanks again!

Aside from the beach bars I mentioned Seafood Madness is the only other restaurant within walking distance of the 4S. It's located across the parking area and street near Double Deuce - about 1/3 to 1/2 mile south of the 4S - you might not want to walk it with your 4 & 5 YO's.

It's easy to get transportation from the 4S - there's always plenty of taxis waiting at the hotel - sometimes the driver will wait for you to finish your meal and other times he will come back for you at a pre-determined time. Whether or not you find the fares to be expensive depends on your financial situation. Depending on the distance you travel a one-way cab fare from the 4S to a restaurant can cost you anywhere from $12US to $25US. Of course, you may find it more economical to rent a car during your stay especially if you plan on venturing "off resort" more than once or twice. A good rule f thumb to se when planning - 2 or more R/T's a day in a taxi to almost anywhere on the island will cost you more than a rental car.

"Noteworthy' and "Must go" restaurants sometimes depend on your particular tastes.

For upscale dining I highly recommend:

Montpelier (Adults only - no kids so don't even ask)

Coconut Grove (sorry I forgot to include this on my earlier list)

For Beach Bars:

Sunshine's - no visit to Nevis is complete with a stop there.

Chrishi Beach - mainly lunch - only open for dinner on Friday.

Casual:

Gallipot

If you like Mexican Food consider going to Mexican Night (Saturday) at Mount Nevis Hotel.

Hi RoamsAround, you've been very helpful. One more question. Are there any grocery type stores or food/fruit stands near the 4S property where I might be able to purchase snacks such as cereal, fruit, cheese, etc? My 4 year old snacks a lot during the day and I'll need to have food on hand rather than have her sit down for a meal 6 X per day... Thanks!

Sorry, but there's no place within walking distance of or anywhere "near" the 4S where you can purchase snacks, food or fruits. You'll need a car or taxi to get to the grocery stores.

Your best places for grocery/food shopping are: Best Buy and Superfoods grocery stores are located on the main island road near the Police Station in Charlestown - about a 7 minute drive from 4S, Rams Grocery on the main island road in the Stoney Grove area - about a 10 minute drive from 4S, Bargain House on Government Road (not far from the Hospital) - about 8 minutes from the 4S and Best Buy in Gingerland - on the main island road about 20 to 25 minutes from the 4S.

You'll also find a few small convenience stops around the island (none within walking distance of the 4S) but selections are usually pretty limited so you would be much better off going to one of the grocery stores I mentioned above.
