Thanks so much Diana! We want to go around our anniversary (Sept 2) but may either have to wait or just go back to Maui. I'm overwhelmed with all the info on this website and am having a hard time choosing which island.

hampsterbrain, I just wanted to throw this in for you. Our anniversary is just a few days after yours and my husband wanted to take me away for ours this year . We looked at Mexico, but many people said it was just way too hot at that time. So, instead we went to Bermuda. Beautiful beaches and lots to see and do.

Thanks! I just started looking at Mexico too and didn't realize that Cabo San Lucas gets so hot and has lots of rain that time too. Do you know of any other areas we might be able to go in Sept? I will check out Bermuda.

September is an unreliable time to go to the Caribbean. But no one mentioned St. John in USVI for crystal water and beautiful foliage. 2/3 national park insures nearly pristine conditions. If you have to go in September, it's probably safest to go to Aruba. Then again, last year St. John received little of the bad hurricane related weather and September was pretty lovely.

I think that St John is close to having it all...lush,mountainous and also the crystal clear waters with light sand beaches.
Its funny Aruba being an arid, flat island...it still did not have the water clarity that St John did in my opinion.

Thanks! This does help. Since we are travelling with our sons, nightlife is not that important. It's really the white sand and turquoise waters that we want along with a great resort, of course. We might try snorkling but other than that we're just going to relax and enjoy the beach and sun.
