food on plane

has anybody flown on delta to san juan recently? since they only give a beverage and a "snack", i was planning on bringing sandwiches on the plane. with all the security measures in place, is there anybody who encountered any problems bringing food in their carry on?

Not a problem. I carry on sandwiches all the time for our son. The only thing we can't carry on anymore are his juice boxes.

I witnessed a lady buy a salad and try to carry it through security. They allowed her to carry the salad on the plane, but took her plastic fork. I guess you don't need silverware or "plasticware" to eat sandwiches, though. It was fun to see her eat the salad with her fingers. Robert59

Robert - LOL too funny. I have no idea what you look like but I can picture you watching this poor woman eating her salad :)

i will be sure to bring food that doesn't require any eating utensils. i wonder if a small bag of potatoe chips will be permitted as well. has the price of bottled water skyrocketed at the airport since they know nobody can bring their own and make it through security? i wouldn't be surprised.

Yes, you can bring potato chips. The restriction is on liquid, ONLY. not other things that were normally allowed. I have been through several airports and have not noticed bottled water being more than it used to be, it is still the same expensive stuff it always was :)

MIM04 is right. Restrictions are on liquids, not food. You can also carry on plastic spoons. We do it all the time. You should see me on the plane, trying to spread the butter and the jelly on my son's bread to make his sandwich. It ain't pretty. :-)

CT - how funny. Must be fun!

Most airports you can grab plastic silverware at the take out restaurants, they even have plastic knives now in most cases. Not sure why the salad lady did not get a fork before boarding the plane :)

MIM04, She did have a plastic fork, but security took it from her. Thus, she ate the salad on board by fingers. Robert59
