Food budget for Atlantis?

We are planning a trip to Atlantis this summer. We will be staying at the Comfort Suites next door. I have heard that food is very expensive, but would like to know how much to budget for 2 adults & 2 children for 5 days. We don't need to eat anything fancy...hamburgers and fries are fine with us.

I think the Comfort Suites provides a continental breakfast. You can get burgers and fries at the places around the pools at Atlantis...Shark Bites or the Cave. I haven't been there in a couple years, but I would say you should expect to pay at least $6.50 for a burger. For dinners you can eat at Anthony's Caribbean Grille which is across the street from the Atlantis. Also Murray's Deli at the Atlantis is not too expensive. If you use a credit card, you don't have to worry about how much $$$$ to bring with you.

I do plan to take a credit card, but would like to know an estimate of what to expect. Do you think $1000 would be too low?

I think $1,000 might be a bit on the high side, since you probably won't be eating most of your meals at ATlantis. Your breakfast is comp by Comfort Suites so you'll need to buy lunch and dinner. You might get some snacks to have in your room and there is a large grocery store on the way to Atlantis from the airport you might arrange to stop there with your cab driver. Or after you check in, go over to the Hurricane Hole which is a shopping center within walking distance of Atlantis.

There are some good restaurants in Nassau, and the kids will love Conch Fritters (across from the BC) and on Cable Beach a fun spot is Johnny's. Some nights they do a Junkanoo which the kids will love.

Hope this helps and have a GREAT time.

Thanks! I'd like to budget like we we're eating all of our meals at Atlantis just in case we don't leave.

Hi we went last Oct(2004) and stayed on the atlantis property with the meal plan. But, next to the pool areas there was a special four burgers, four drinks and four fries for about $28.00 which is a great price. The breakfast at the Marketplace in the royal towers was expensive, but we were on the meal plan. I think it was $30 per person. They also serve a buffet dinner.I am not sure of the price. I would eat my free breakfast at the comfort suites and have the burger meal by the pool and then go out to a nice dinner every night.
Now the dinners were included in our plan and I remember that every place is pricey. I will say that the buffet meals will give you more food for your money. With kids, they can walk around and pick what they want and don't want too. I can't remember how much that would be but you can probably judge it by their website. I would think the 200 per day would be more than enough for lunches and dinners.
For the better restaurants, Five Twins was not good. The best gourmet restaurants were the Bahamaian Club(steakhouse) and the Villa D Este(italian). They would most likely throw you over budget and cost around $200. without wine and maybe allowing for one cocktail.
Enjoy your trip!!
