Flying into Caribbean Just Got Easier

FYI:
Travellers to the smaller Caribbean islands may be interested to know that US Airways now has a partnership with 3 regional airlines: WinAir, Caribbean Star and Nevis Express. Now you can book right through from Philadelphia or Charlotte to whatever island you're going to and build up your miles. Apparently this partnership will go into effect mid-July.
I have no affiliation with any of these airlines, but thought it might be of interest to someone.

Yes, it is very good news! Thanks.

Are those FF miles still good after US Air goes under, or only until?

I just read that US Air will start flying from Philly to Grenada starting this December. A little competition for AA can't hurt!

I don't know anything about USAir going under, but anything that gives AA competition is a good thing as the previous poster said.
AA really does have a monopoly on Anguilla in particular.

I booked round trip from NYC to STThomas for $361/adult $283/child on USAir.

I'd rather change planes in Charlotte than pay $800/person to American or Continental. Neither of those airlines discounted for kids.

Once they get the "regional" planes worked out with the union USAir should be fine. So far the competition works for me!
L

To compare:
I just paid $195.60 r/t from Anguilla to Puerto Rico on American.

I went to the U. S. Air website and looked up some make believe flights to several islands leaving the last week of July and returning the first week of Aug.
None of the returned results included flights on U. S. Air..............

You're kidding? I typed the original post the day the article came out in the paper!
Strange......

I wouldn't know about July/August but the fares I got for 11/23 thru 11/30 (Saturday to Saturday) are the cheapest I have ever seen. I booked through Travelocity though not the USAir site.

I thought I had done well with $416 last year on American (Friday to Friday)....as usually you can't touch flights for anything less than $450 and usually much more.
