First timers going to Nassau, Bahamas - need help!
My husband and I are headed to Nassau for the first time this July. We got a great deal at the Sheraton using our Starwood points. We are very familiar with St. John, BVIs, - been to Grand Cayman, etc. Can anyone recommend things to do/excursions, places to eat while we are there? Also is it better to rely on public transportation, or should we rent a car?

If they still do passes to Atlantis, everybody has t o see it at least once.
My favorite excursions, although expensive, are worth every penny.
Day trip by ferry to Harbour Island. Rent a golf cart. Eat well, walk around the gorgeous colorful town, hang out in one of the most stunning bea ches in the world. (chances are there will be a model shoot there)
Day trip on a fast airboat to northern Exumas. You'll see water so. Clear it's mond boggling. You'll see sharks, iguanas and maybe swimming pigs.
Eat lunch and hang out one day at the very colorful Compass Point.
Eat at The Poop Deck.

Most of the things Blamoma pointed out.
You can also take a trip over to Blue Lagoon Island near Nassau. It's a private island excursion with dolphins, snorkeling and activities. Looks pretty nice to me!

Or the Powerboat Adventure:

bahamianlily - thank you for the recommendations. I did hear about the foodstore2go.com. Being that we're staying at the Sheraton, do you think they will deliver to our room? I think we have to ask for a refrigerator (for an extra fee) since they are not a standard room amenity.
We would really only be interested in getting beer, wine, cigarettes and a few snacks for the room. Are they good for something like that, or should we just pick up these items ahead of time somewhere close by?

Thanks everyone for the replies. I did book the Powerboat Adventure for my husband and I. Dining at Graycliff does intrigue me especially since my husband and I LOVE wine. However, I really don't want to pay an arm and a leg for dinner. Is it possible to take a taxi over to Paradise Island for dinner one evening? The Poopdeck looks like more our speed. Any other recommendations welcome - also places for breakfast?

Okay I wound up changing our reservations to Compass Point Resort.
I currently have the Island World Adventures booked for one day. It is a bit pricey and was wondering if it is really worth it, or if I am on the fence, should I change it to Sandy Toes Rose Island excursion instead?
