First timer

So I have never been to PR but am looking for an easy getaway. I try to avoid crowds and the most important thing I would say is an empty beach (if thats possible) any suggestions on where to stay? We are just going in for less than a week. I dont mind staying in a condo that has its own kitchen area but again being away from crowds is a must. Thanks in advance.

Well, I can't help you out much as far as where to stay but I can tell you where not to stay, given your criteria. I would avoid the San Juan area if crowd avoidance and empty beaches are priorities. You may want to research Rincon and Vieques.

I agree with the advice about not staying in the San Juan area. One option is the southern coast, Caribbean side. We drove down there from San Juan for a day trip a few years ago (took us about 1 hour 1/2 to get there). We had lunch at the Copamarina Beach Resort. We didn't stay there but the resort looked lovely. Very quiet, very out of the way from the big city. So take a look at it. Good luck.

If you are looking for empty beaches, you can't beat Vieques. This island is not for everybody - some might say it's not quite ready for prime time - but for an unspoiled island the way things used to be it's the place.

Hi, I've never been to PR either, but I thought this article (from the Washington Post travel section earlier this year) might provide some ideas:
