First time to the Bahamas

My fiance and I are going to Nassau for our honeymoon in early June. We are staying at the Radisson Cable Beach. We were wondering if anyone had any tips, on what to do or what to see while there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

How long will you be there? My wife and I honeymooned (2nd marriage for each) there 5 years ago this June and loved it. We are more prone to lieing
on the beach, but we did take a number 10 bus into Nassau (remember to take the
number 10 on the way back..not the 10A!)
and went to the straw market. We enjoyed that..we also went on a dolphin encouter that was very enjoyable.

As far as the Radisson..make dinner reservations as soon as you're checked in..you have 6 restaurants to chose from. Also..purchase a phone card in one of the stores in the mall between the Radisson and the Casino..US purchased cars MAY NOT work..

Remember that people in the Bahamas are on "Island time" and may not respond to your needs as quickly as they might in the US..but..they are very friendly people who want to keep you happy..

Here's a link to some photos I took during our visit there last year (we're going again this August!

YOu have to take a day trip to Rose Island. I believe there are two outfits that do it. Its a 20 minute boat ride from the harbor to a little island where the snorkeling is fantastic and they serve you a lunch on the beach. We've done it every time we go and it is always the best part of the trip. One of the names is Robinson Crusoe and the other I don't recall. The one who's name escapes me was the better of the two. Check with the hotel when you get there. They will have the flyers for it

The other tour is the Sea Island Adventure. I agree it's a better tour, and goes to a nicer part of the island.

Thank you all so much for the tips. The pics were great too Jim. My fiance and I are both very excited. We are not much of travelers (we have never left the states). We are going to be there for 5 days. We did not go all inclusive (was this a mistake?) as we figured we might want to try restaraunts out of the hotel. Thank you again.

No, I wouldn't think that's a mistake..
there are some nice restaurants nearby
from what I've heard. We're probably not too adventurous and are happy eating
at the restaurants within the radisson.

Jim, thanks again. We really aren't that adventrous either. We also thought it would help to save money. Which restaraunts did you prefer there? Are there places open late to get a snack? Any sushi? Thanks

Johnny Canoe's is a great, fun restaurant just two hotels down from the Radisson.

I've heard a lot of good things about Johnny Canoes.. I don't know if you save
money with AI or not..probably not..we're
content with staying at the hotel..if we
had more time, we might go other places, but we're only there for 4 nights this trip. If I had a favorite restaurant at the radisson, I'd have to say Amici (italian)..I don't know about snacks late at night..maybe in the buffet?

I'm probably not a lot of help :-)

Jim, you're a very big help :-)
Does the hotel organize different types of activities? Did you have any trouble drinking the water? Thanks

jhender501 Apr 30th, 2004 09:49 AM

There are a couple of tour groups located in the hotel..Majestic is likely the one with which Radisson guests would working. check this link for what they offer

http://www.majesticholidays.com/tour...excursiont.htm

we used them the first time we were there and they were very good..

we've had no problem with the water..but..with AI, one can get all the bottled water they might want (from the bar, at any rate)
