first time to Caymans--help!
We are going to the Caymans with our two children, 14 and 11, in March. Want to swim, snorkel, windsurf. Prefer casual places, i.e. don't want to get dressed up, ever! Any recommendations?

Check out the websites for Cayman villas / condos. If you want to stay on Grand Cayman and want a hotel, there's a Holiday Inn (but you have to cross the street to get to the beach) and Comfort Suites.

You folks will have a great time, and really there's very few places that require dressing up.

Hope this helps.

Don't need to dress up for anything in Cayman. Go on a snorkeling/stingray tour with Capt. Marvin or rent near Eden's rock and snorkle there. We shopped in bathing suits at the fine jewelry stores. Had a lovely dinner at the Wharf at sunset, you can feed the tarpons from the deck-fun for kids. Stay somewhere on 7 mile beach and you can swim/snorkle right outside your hotel. We had so much fun we're taking our 4 kids with us next time.

Don't want to sound like an "old lady" but Cayman is not the place to shop in a bathing suit. You will on occasion see a cruiser walking around in a bathing suit, but they like tourists to show a bit more respect and to dress in shorts, etc as you would to go shopping at home.

Cayman Island is 100% casual.
There are a few restaurants that one would want to be a little more turned out, but those can be avoided if casual is your priority. People go to Cayman for snorkeling etc. not to get dressed up.
