Blamona, you seem to be the expert on Turks. I am looking at hotels right now and am considering a few. First off is The Veranda (Al) because its about the same price as some resorts without the food option. Or we are looking at The West Bay but I am not sure if a studio room there would give me enough of a luxurious feel. Otherwise Grace Bay seems nice too. I am looking for something that is not sitting too close to some other resorts, I'd like some feeling that we're on an island and not in crowded Cabo. And I like NICE hotels, I am picky. If I could afford the Regent Palms or The Somerset I'd be all over it. Do you have any good recommendations? Also we are going the beginning of December (possibly, if I decide on Turks over BVI) and I am curious if you have been over that time and what the weather was like?

katie, a couple of observations:
I have been to Cabos
The hotels do line up next to each other, but are low floors for the most part (3-4)
Even at it's most crowded though, it never seems crowded! Cabos was crowded, plus you have vendors always trying to sell you something. Provo is pure relaxing bliss. Even at peak travel, you'll find big stretches of beaches with only a handful of people.
Sounds like you would really love Point Grace. Really nice stretch of beach, only 21 rooms, gorgeous Caribbean old world charm, I don't know if it's in your price level though.
Veranda is nice, but my opinion, here's the funny thing about AI, even if it costs the same and you swear you'll venture out for food you won't. (Why eat somewhere if you've already paid for it?) You'd be missing out in some fantastic restaurants with amazing settings, even if you promised to venture out. I'm even guilty, when I stayed there or at Beaches, they have subliminal ways of keeping you put! FYI Veranda is right next to Beaches, which is what you're trying to get away from! The most crowded yet narrow stretch of beach.
It sounds like West Bay Club is closest to your criteria. It's small and boutique. Big stretch of beach. Very upscale for the price. (I love the furniture there so much I bought some for my house!) They should be running specials thru mid december, if you can upgrade to a 1 bedroom you'll be drenched in luxury. I find WBC to be very luxurious for the price.
Weather in December, it can be iffy. This is the case all over the Caribbean. With East Coast States weather, cold fronts stir up what Caribbean calls "Christmas Winds." In general it's usually sunny, might rain for 10 minutes, get sunny again. The usually calm water may be wavy. It can get "summer cool" at nights (may need a light sweater) Still get tan, still have one of the world's most beautiful beaches.
Of course, I really can't predict the weather! 8-)
