Ferry from St. Martin to Anguilla
My fiance and I are going to CuisinArt in 2 weeks and had planned on taking the ferry from St. Martin to Anguilla. Both of us tend to get seasick, and so I was wondering if anyone knows if it's more of a smooth ferry ride or a bumpy, potentially nauseating one. Thank you so much! -Two anxious, neurotic New Yorkers

Of course a lot will depend on the time of year and the weather and wind conditions on the day you plan to travel but for the most part it's an uneventful trip. I've made the crossing several times and it was always a relatively smooth trip.

It's only a 20 minute ride & you see the buildings in Anguilla as soon as you clear the harbor in Marigot (that helps, I think). It's usually just fine & the newer ferries just skin along the top.

It's a very quick ride and usually smooth. But if the seas are choppy, it can be a little bouncy when you are out in the channel.
If you are concerned, just to make sure, take some dramimine or bonine before you go. |
Thanks for the help.

I just came back from Cuisinart and took the ferry both ways. Going there was just fine, actually pleasant. Coming back was a little rough - first time in 3 trips to Anguilla that I was uncomfortable. Once I got on land, I recovered quickly. By the way, Cuisinart is a fabulous resort and I would return in a minute. We had a jr. suite on the 2nd floor and it was spectacular. They were very nice and welcoming and our stay was flawless. Have fun and don't get too crazed about the ferry.

We just returned yesterday and the ferry ride was a breeze. We were on a large (40 foot)open air ferry. Our ride was very smooth and only took 20 minutes. On the way back it was a little rougher but nothing major at all. And we wee in an enclosed boat this time. if possible try to catch the open air ferry and sit up top. It's a very nice ride.

How would you compare the ferry ride between St. Martin and Anguilla to the ferry ride between St. Thomas and St. John - either the 45 minute ferry ride to/from Charlotte Amalie or the 20 minute ferry ride to/from Red Hook? Easier, rougher? Thanks!
