Ferry from St. Kitts to Nevis

Could someone give me info about taking a ferry between these two islands. Is there more than one ferry company? If so, which do you recommend and the cost and proximity from the cruise port in Basseterre, St. Kitts. And do the ferries have a restroom? Thank you very much.

I assume you are asking about the "passenger ferries" not the Seabridge Car Ferry. If so, there are several different passenger companies but not all of them run every day and there is no difference in price, quality of service or the time it takes to make the crossing. The all leave from the same pier in Basseterre and Charlestown and operate on different time schedules. One ferry company is not better than the other, with the slight exception of Sea Hustler which is more of a cargo vessel that takes passengers as opposed to all the others that just take passengers. All the passenger ferries run on or within 5 minutes of their published schedules and take about 45 minutes to make the crossing. So, just choose the ferry who's schedule best dovetails with your travel. plans In other words don't worry about which ferry company to take, just take the "Next" ferry. And yes, the passenger ferries have on board rest rooms. FYI- You'll find plenty of taxis meeting the ferries when they arrive in either Basseterre or Charlestown. HINT: DO NOT purchase a round trip ticket - there is no cost savings and doing so will limit you to traveling on just that particular ferry and its schedule may not be the best for you on your return trip.

Just so you know, the SeaBridge car ferry also takes passengers but travels between Major's Bay on the southern tip of St. Kitt's (about a 30 minute taxi ride from the airport) and Cades Bay on Nevis. If you don't have a car you'll need to make your own arrangements for a taxi at both Major's Bay and Cades Bay as none will be waiting when the ferry arrives. The Seabridge rarely departs or arrives on time. Locals say the only reason they publish a schedule is so that people know how late it is running.

Your other option for traveling between St. Kitt's and Nevis is to take a Water Taxi. The Water Taxi's operate between the dock at Reggae Beach on St. Kitt's and Oulaie Beach on Nevis. The Water Taxis shuttle back and forth all day long and time there runs to coincide with the arrival and departure times of most flights leaving from St. Kitt's airport.
