Ferry from Red Hook to St John

Is it usually a gentle crossing or is the water quite choppy? I know it's only a 20 min trip but I get seasick! Thanks for any info

Ours was pretty easy really but it depends on the weather and the seas at the time. My wife gets motion sickness too but had nothing at all both going and coming. If the weather is nice it should be no problem. :-)

Our ride was a little choppy but not too bad.

Hi Jacketwatch!How have you been?

Hi Christie: Pretty good actually. How about you? Got any trips lined up? We are taking a WE hop to see friends in "exotic" Iowa. LOL! Actually their town, Mason City is famous for two things: 1. its the birth place of Meredith Wilson who wrote "Music Man" and its the place where the plane crashed that killed Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the "Big Bopper". Remenber the song "The day the music died" by Don McClean? Its about that night.

Jacketwatch,
Yes I remember the song.Hope that you have a good trip.

We are going to Grand Cayman in May.We have reserved a condo on 7 mile beach.I cannot wait being that we have been very busy dealing with my DH business. It is hard to find good help in the construction trade.(He is an Electrical Contractor)So he has been about 1 week behind on work.

I first tried to plan a trip to Negril..but could not talk DH into it.Looks like I will go with a friend or my mom oneday. ;)

Take care and enjoy Iowa!

Monique: why not just take a bonine (non-drowsy dramamine) just to be sure; or even half a pill. I tend to get sea-sick, but have never been sick on that ferry, even without med. Still.....

Christie: Sounds just like what is needed. I hope hubby can really unwind. Take care and have fun. :-) Larry

Hi Monique, I get seasick too and was worried about the ferry. It was not too bad, I did not take any medication because it was only a 20 min ride and I didn't want to be drousy for the rest of the day. I did tell the captain (if you call him that) that I tend to get seasick so I made sure that I got on last as not to be sitting for 20 mins before we took off.

You also have the option of sitting in your car but it was such a beautiful view, I sat upstairs and took pictures.

Have fun in St John

I repeat: I, too, tend to get sea-sick and I truly abhor being drowsy. I have never felt even the tiniest degree of drowsiness with bonine. (I know that folks react differently to meds, but I've never known anyone to get sleepy on such medications.)

Just got back from STT+STJ. Took car ferry from/to Red Hook. Smooth ride. We even got out of car and walked/sat around for the view.
