February honeymoon help
Me and my fiancé are trying to plan a honeymoon in the carribean for feb of 2013. Ive been searching the web for weeks and can't seem to find exactly what we are looking for. We obviously want nice beaches to hang out and snorkel at but also don't want to sit on the beach for a week straight! We also like the idea of riding bikes/walking into town for drinks or dinner. We don't need a ton if nightlife but we like to drink so some low key bars, open air spots would be nice. I was thinking st. John where we could also take day trips to the bvi's would be nice but wanted some other suggestions.
We've also thought about Belize for jungle and beach split. We are going for 7 days.

For us to be of help we need more info:
What is your budget for airfare, accommodations and food? - Be specific, don't use nebulous terms like "affordable", "not over the top" or "won't break the bank".
Where are you flying from?
How long a trip are you planning?
Try to give us some idea of your likes/dislikes. Sorry, but you'll find nice beaches and places where you can walk and ride bikes on just about every island.
What is it about St. John and Belize that appeals to you?
The more you can tell us about yourself the easier it will be for us to make meaningful suggestions.

We are planning on spending 7 days somewhere. Budget for everything is around 5 or $6000. Ive just heard good things about st John.--- awesome beaches, good snorkeling, can take day trips to bvi's, nice town in Cruz bay for going out at night. We thought Belize because there are tons of activities, but heard the beaches aren't great (swimming and laying out). And we are flying from the southeastern part of US.

On St, john look at Gallows Point Resort or if you want something more like a Bed & Breacfast type of place check out Estate Lindholm or Gecko House.
FYI - St. John is quite hilly so bike ridding may be a bit of a challenge.

Belize has very modet beaches but nice ones. But the road system on the mainland is not set up for biking. The best snorkeling in the caribbean still is St, John, Belize and Roaton, Honduras. St. John is the most expensive. Biking is possible on Poatan and several beaches are pretty good but you need to know where you are going. There are 2 nice resorts there. In Belize I woud avoid Ambergis Key for it might be a little for you but there is a resort without biking 35 miles off the mainlsnd that is rated #1 or #2, iy varies, in Belize called Turneffe Island Lodge. It has good family style food with only 30-40 guests with some divers, some snorkelersand some wo primarily fish for bone and tarpon. We have been there three times in a beach villa. If you use my name their Dallas office "might" upgrade you from a regular nice room to a beach villa which saves you $1000 for the week. A place on the mainland of Belize that is just a bit fancier and more costly is Hamanasi Resort. They have a very nice beach and good snorkeling but no opportunity for social life outside the resort other than the 40-50 guests.
