Family Vacation Suggestion

I need help in selecting my family vacation. My family typically has active vacations. We have two teenagers and we are looking for an island where we can do some hiking, tours and see some wildlife in addition to all of the beach activities. Not into shopping or nightlife, sitting by the pool/beach for the entire day nor looking for typical "kids" activities in a resort but would prefer to go on our own. I've read quite a bit and not sure about which location to consider. Is there a Caribbean Island that would have daily adventures/sites? We have already been to Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas. Aruba did not have many activities other than beach time, which we do like, just not for the whole day. I would prefer to stay under $500 a night for accommodations. I would appreciate any suggestions!

Would you consider Mexico? The Riviera Maya area offers snorkeling, zip lines, ruins to explore, hiking, etc.

Granada may suit your family. In addition to beaches they have a national forest - Grand Etang National Park. Wonderful forest land with tons of hiking trails, wonderful flora/fauna, animal/bird species, waterfall and volcanic lake. It would be a great experience with the kids. Grenada also offers some historical sites/forts, old coco plantations, botanical gardens in additional to water activities. Also the main capital city Saint George is fun to explore and has an interesting spice market. Overall it is a fun varied destination to explore with teens.
