Family vacation - all inclusive best value? Any ideas?

Want to surprise my husband and three 6-year-olds with an all inclusive island resort vacation without breaking the bank. I know Beaches in Turks and Caicos would be the best place, but would love to hear about any other family all-inclusive resorts that would not be as expensive as Beaches. This is the first time for the kids, so I am sure anywhere we go would be a treat! Please do not tell me about Mexico, my husband and I were sick for two months after a trip there, we will definetely not return. I am also reluctant about Jamaica. Please help if you can!

Why not Jamaica? It has more villa rentals and more all inclusives than any other island...

Check out the line of Wyndham resorts. They're very "kid-friendly," and the service it top-notch. I love the all-inclusives and find them to be a great deal.

Haven't been there but families seem to love Atlantis in the Bahamas. It's liek a Disney/Island vacation all rolled into one. Don't know if there is an all-inclusive option. We went to La Cabana Resort in Aruba last March. Condo-stle accommodations and lots of families. They have an all-inclusive option but I wouldn't recommend it. With three six year olds you'd do better to take them to the restaurants like Outback Steakhouse, fast food outlets etc. that are located on Aruba. Also some great local dining.

A rather unusual destination would be the Dunes resort on Margarita Island, Venezuela. We were there 2 years ago and were able to stay 15 days for thw same price as one week in Jamaica. They have a special kids club so the parents can relax also.

Yes, why not Jamaica. JDR would be great for you and the kids. The beach isn't great but everyone I talked to loved the nanny's, service, food and the people of Jamacia are wonderful. Also the Wyndham Rose Hall is great for kids, no nanny's but a fun water park. Do not go to FRD Pebbles. We were also there this summer and they really need to get their act together.

Srry, but Jamaica is pretty messed up and feels dangerous, folks. Look for something in the Caymans. It's 1.5 hours from Miami or Houston and with THREE SIX YEAR OLDS, that's important. If you want cheap but NICE with great service, perhaps Cancun? It's also close, the water is drinkable. Just make sure you stay on the North part that faces Isla Mujeres: the water is MUCH calmer there.

Can you tell me more about La Cabana. I've been looking very closely at this, would love to go, but hear the airfare is about $700 round trip. That's high. Please tell me more about your trip there. Thanks.

Ellen, why say Jamaica is dangerous then recommend Cancun? The crime rate, especially against tourists, is MUCH higher in Mexico!

Check out www.Allegro.com. We have been to three of them with our kids 9 and 11. They hvae resorts in Mexico but alos Antigua, Aruba and more. They have a great kids program and always located on the best beaches. They always are all-inclusive and the price is very reasonable!! Good luck!!
