Family of 16 where to go? AI's please

Hi everyone,

Our family would like to go to an AI next year in the Islands. We would like to keep it as resonable as possible. We have 6 children ranging from 3-16.

Please post information and experiences! Thank you

Look into the Pineapple Beach CLub (it might be called the Grand Pineapple now) on the east coast of Antigua. It's a mid-range AI resort that is family friendly but doesn't cater to them exclusively, so it won't be overrun with lots of little tykes under foot. (Like Beaches or FDR)

Also, Antigua is a relatively easy island to get to, and because it can accommodate jet aircraft, the airfare is lower there than to smaller islands that can only take the prop planes.

It's on the untouristed side of the island, which makes it fairly isolated, but it sits on a lovely beach shared by only one other hotel (Long Bay Hotel--worth a stop in for lunch for for the Thursday night beach bbq). The water is calm and surrounded by a reef, which is good for beginning snorkelers and children. (We just had a group of 45 at the same beach last month, ages ranging from 6 months old to 70+)

I've never been to the DOminican Republic or to Mexico, but it seems that the AI resorts in those places are less money than elsewhere in the Caribbean...

If you're looking for lower cost, then I'd check into Playa Del Carmen or Cancun, Mexico. There are many AI resorts in these areas, and most of them have Kids Clubs for the children.

Do either Punta Cana, La Romana, or Playa del Carmen. Riu, Iberostar, Sunscape, are a couple of brands to name a few that have great activities for children. If you can get on a chartered plane you can keep it under $800 a person for a pretty nice place. The beaches are also a lot nicer in Punta Cana than any other place.

go to www.applevacations.com and look at Mexico, the Dom. Republic and Jamaica. Lotd of choices there and the DP would be the most reasonable.
