Family Carribean Vacation

Interested in doing a week long vacation with family and 3 elderly teenagers. Important considerations are fantastic beach and water sports. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Jerry, we went with another couple to an all-inclusive resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, with six teenagers. Everyone had a fantastic time. You are within walking distance of the town, which is safe enough that they can walk there on the beach, as long as they stay together. The resort had an endless supply of enthusiastic employees who got the kids going for all kinds of games (you should have seen the US versus Italian baseball game!). Food was decent, the old folks (that's us) had lots of fun sunning, snorkeling, and drinking margaritas. Beach was gorgeous. Be warned though, they will allow your teens to drink...not a problem for ours fortunately, as the drinks are pretty watered down, and the kids really didn't like "the taste" and went back to ordering Cokes after the first two tries. I will find out the name of the resort (the other couple made the arrangements) and re-post, but it was about a 3-star, fine for families.

The place I mentioned above is called the Reef Club Playacar. Here's a link to Trip Advisor, with a list of reviews:

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...Peninsula.html

Hi we took our teenage sons 12,16,18 on a Western Caribbean Cruise last January and they loved it. The perfect blend of couple time and family time. Karen

A villa in Grand Cayman would be nice and let the kids have their own car rental so they have some independence.

The Mayan Riviera was a great suggestion and two resorts I can personally recommend are the Barcelo Maya Beach resort (about a 15 minute cab ride from Playa Del Carmen) or Iberostar Paraiso (again...15-20 minutes but has a free shuttle service to Playa del Carmen).

For another great beach destination, try Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Absolutely beautiful white sand beach that stretches forever!!
For websites:
www.debbiesdominicantravel.com
www .debbiescaribbeanresortreviews.com
www.cancunan drivieramaya.com
www.caribbeanopinion.net
Go od luck!

Check out villas at the Tryall Club in Jamaica. Private villas with pool and you get to use of all of the facilities of the resort. (spa, restuarants, bars, beaches, etc..) Your villa comes with golf carts to get around the huge grounds. The villas also come with a maid, gardener, cook and laundress. You don't have to worry about anything. Check out the website tryallclub.com

I could go on forever about this place. It's fantastic! I also brought my kids and there friends (ages 21-26.)
They had a blast.
