Expired passport:grounds for divorce?????

Soooo.....as im packing today for a much anticipated adult get away to t&c this Wed., hubby hands me our passports . I open them to make sure he indeed retrieved ours and not our children's and notice his is expired!!!!!! Yes, thats right. Mr. Well-Traveled has let his passport expire and we are supposed to be leaving Wed.!!!! I am dumbfounded. He says 'Well it was fine when we went to the Virgins last year" and acted like its no big deal!!! I fear that it is quite a big deal.

Thoughts? Are we going to have to reschedule our trip? He is going to try and "get it all worked out tomorrow"!! What???This from a man who has traveled more than most of the free world. Do I reason to panic? I fear I do.

I hope some of you all have some quick answers or I may be jumping off our local bridge if the line isnt too long..........

My now husband was able to get his processed in 48 hours....cost some bucks - but he did it...I will say this was in the 90's - before 9/11, etc. Good Luck!

Do you live near a major city with a passport office? If so he might be able to renew it in time. Did you check the State Department site for passport renewal information? He'll need to call to make an appointment if you live near an office and he'll have to take his flight information to show he needs it expedited.

Good luck.

You might want to re-post this on another board as well since they get much more traffic than the Caribbean boards. Maybe the US forum and the Lounge.

Maybe not quite divorce, but go without him? ;-)

Seriously, if he can get it in time, great, if not, you'll have to reschedule, plus it will cost you probably $150 per airline ticket (plus any increase in fare) to change, and there might be a penalty on the hotel.

He really needs to find out about getting it overnight, which my be too late for Wednesday.

Please keep us posted!

might try signing him up for WHTI

www.getyouhome.gov

expedite his passport

or better easier cheaper for a getaway

St John USVI The Westin betterbidding.com

cheap first class flights down for me spirit.com

Provo is ok pretty around Grace Bay T&Cs otherwise

pretty underwhelming and flat for me.

If he can't get it done, I, too, would go without him.

I like traveling alone sometimes.

Maybe he'll just be delayed a day or two, then he can join you.
