EXCLUSIVE HONEYMOON?

I AM SEARCHING FOR AN EXCLUSIVE AND LUXURIOUS HONEYMOON DESTINATION/HOTEL IN EITHER MEXICO OR THE CARRIBEAN. I AM NOT ADVERSE TO AN ALL-INCLUSIVE SUGGESTION AS LONG AS IT IS AN ADULTS ONLY PROPERTY.
THANKS FOR THE HELP.

When are you going for how long and how much do you intend to spend on air/hotel? How do you define "exclusive and luxuirous" from what you have read, what appeals to you?
What kind of activities are you looking for, ie, diving, gambling, shopping or none of the above?
Islands and resorts are quite diverse in activity and $$$. It is important to know these things so we can better direct you.

P.S. Please do not use all caps when psoting, it is the equivelent of yelling in computer speak. It is also harder to read. Thanks

William, I have heard wonderful comments on Royal Hideway in PDC Mexico. You may just come in on your budget for the time frame. It is AI but the food is gourmet, top notch. You may try and do a text search for Mexico and read comments.

I would recommend Sandals, Antigua. You can stay for the length of time you wish and you will be within your budget. Sandals Antigua is a beautiful property and is an AI. Antigua is a beautiful island with georgeous beaches. I would also suggest calling a travel agent and booking thru Classic Custom Vacations. In my travels I have found that they give excellent rates and include first class airfare 75% off, which is nice for your honeymoon. You can only book thru a TA with Classic and since a TA does not charge any money to you, it is well worth the savings with Classic. you can also visit www.travelhop.com click on an island and then to a hotel, you will get actual views of hotels and beaches & restaurants. Also you can go to www.classicccustomvacations.com and see what they have to offer. Like I said, I have used Classic and find I got the most for my money. Hope this helps and Congrats

Lisa, how was Palm Island? Looking at it for a 10th Anniversary trip. Specifically, how was the food, beach? Thanks in advance.

Palm Island was excellent. Gerry and I have traveled all over the Caribbean for the last ten years and we both agreed that this was our favorite spot. Have been to Galley Bay, Coral Reef Club, Little Dix Bay, Biras Creek, Sonesta in Anguilla, Spice Island Beach Resort. . . The food at Palm was delicious, just as good as what we experienced at both Biras Creek and Coral Reef Club. There are only forty rooms on the island so it is very quiet and peaceful. Rooms are directly on a beautiful beach facing Union Island. It was wonderful!

Other things to keep in mind are: 1) do you want an array of activities and nighlife or is this not important, 2) do you prefer a resort style or a smaller hotel where often it seems you're the only two there. While all the suggestions so far sound great and probably are, you could be setting yourself up for disappointment if you don't determine exactly what you will enjoy the most and make sure you research the property to ensure it fits your criteria.

Biras Creek, Galley Bay etc are absolutely wonderful, although way out of the posters price range - it is very easy to suggest lovely beautiful places(by the way the Sonesta/Anguilla is no longer has been closed for quite some time now) You have to consider the price range of $4-6000 for 12 days, including air. The trick here is to get the most luxury/romance for their money. Most of the places suggested do not fit in that price range.

Thank you all for the great responses. I had originally looked into BVI but i feel that there are not enough activities and it could be a little too quiet. I had stayed at secrets excellence last April and i am looking for something comparable to taht property.

William,

Check out Young Island in St. Vincent. (www.youngisland.com). They have some great rates and packages on their website. It is a private island resort right off of St. Vincent- so you have the privacy of the private island but St. Vincent is also right there for excursions and day trips. Also, the Grenadines island are supposedly beautiful and you can take a ferry to some of them- also the resort offers a two or three day sail on one of their 55 foot sailboats to the other islands and is included in the price of the package. Young Island packages include all meals. After much research on romantic resorts that are secluded yet have options for excursions- and a decent price- Young Island seemed like the best choice. I am going for my honeymoon in 2003!
