Evening Entertainment - St. Lucia

Just curious - are there any movie theatres in Castries?

My fiancee and I coming down to the Halcyon resort for two weeks at the end of June/beginning of July and, as much as I am looking forward to our visit, for some reason, I'm starting to stress out about the possibility of boredom setting in.

We very much want to experience as much of the local culture as possible (combined with having a heck of a lot of fun), but will we run out of things "to do" by the end of week one? Please help calm my nerves...

There will be nightly entertainment at Halcayon and you can also go to the shows at Sandals St.Lucia.
You will have Cable Tv in your room and I think it has HBO or Showtime.
They have a street party on Friday or Saturday Night (I can't remember which night it was) in Castries. It was quite a Party.
A little scary, but that was just because this old St. Lucian man kept wanting to dance with me.

Who goes on vacation to watch movies? You won't experience any local culture in a movie theater... I wish I had the time to "stress out" about being bored.

My advice, live a little.

I believe the street party Travel Professional referred to is in Gros Islet, not far from Halcyon, but it's on Thursday nights. I didn't care for it either (a tad scary for me too) but others really enjoyed it, including my aunt and uncle who are in their mid-sicties but are extemely adventurous for their age. Lots of loud music, locals, beer, and food and locals wanting you to buy their wares.

Just to let you know the party at Gros Islet is on a Friday night and starts about 9.30.
Enjoy, we didn't make it there ourselves but we were told by a few guests that did what a great night they all had.

Thank you blue eyes. The party IS on Friday, and starts around 9:30 to 10:00, but it really gets crankin' later.
I'd not recommend it to anyone who is timid or not comfortable in multi-cultural situations. (Any of the posters who are always looking for that "clean, safe, Disney-esque island" on which to revel in their own splendiferousness would be huddled in a frightened group.)
There is great music, dancing, and wonderful barbecued chicken to be had.
It's a blast, but don't get to close to the speakers, don't get dressed up, and leave the flash and cash at home...
