Eleuthera: fresh local produce?
 

Do they sell it anywhere? Maybe from other islands? Papayas, coconuts, etc... I don't particularly relish broccoli in saran wrap shipped over from Florida.

The mailboat brings in fresh Pineapple papayas and mangos (Should have some local pineapples and coconuts). They also bring, onions, tomotoes, yucca, bananas, sour orange and peppers.
Depends on what day they come in and what they're carrying.

Eleuthera sells their famous pineapples in the local grocery stores and in roadside stands. It beats Hawaiin pineapple by a long shot: sweet and meaty. Robert59

In N. Eleuthera, the soil is rich and produces pineapples and various other vegetables. Queen's Harbor follows the seashore and we would run into many fishing boats lined up and bought fresh fish...still alive! In the winter months, there's lots of fresh citrus fruits, but in the summer is when the papayas and avocados are fresh and plucked off the trees. In N. Eleuthera, we ran into roadside fruit vendors during the summer months stocked with papaya, plantains, coconuts, vegetables and fresh fruits of all types. Don't forget the famous and delicious Bahamian bread, which is on every island. I'd walked the deserted streets early in the morning in Bimini, and smelt the fresh bread being taken out of hot ovens, later to be sold in the stores. Same experience on Eleuthera. You can also buy fresh fish and spiny lobster at the government docks. But, the pineapples are the best, much tastier than in the states. After all, Eleuthera's been farming pineapples for 250 years! You won't have problems experiencing the Bahamian cooking. Robert59

Did not run into any street vendors and island farms did not have any fresh produce except some herbs. The grocery store in Gov Harbour had basic produce like tomatoes, potatoes, eggs, milk, bananas etc (likely shipped over from Florida since the prices were a bit steep). However coconuts are everywhere. Our villa gardener picked/cut some for us from our back yard. We also bought some from a guy with a pick up truck by Twin Coves beach.
