El San Juan
How far is the El San Juan hotel from the downtown area ... and what's the best way to get there ... is there a (safe) bus or by cab? What's the cost and distance?

Can not help too much but it is right in Old San Juan - up the hill from shops but walkable - wear comfortable shoes!<BR><BR>It is a beautiful hotel!

The El San Juan is in Isla Verde. Old San Juan, where the tourist stores are, is about a 20 minute ride from there. The Wyndham Old San Juan is what the previous poster may be talking about, or maybe the El Convento?<BR>Ronnie

San Juan in the tourist sense does not have a "downtown". There are three major tourist areas: Isla Verde, Condado and Old San Juan. Isla Verde is 5 minutes from the airport and the El San Juan hotel is located in that area.. There are three major hotels and many other small ones. Lots of restaurants. Condado is about 10 minutes from the airport. Lots of hotels, restaurants and retail shops. Old San Juan is less than 20 minutes from the airport. No beaches, a few hotels but many restaurants and retail shops. It is a heavily visited tourist area.You coud take a bus to Condado anD OLd SAn Juan. A cab would cost at least $8 to Condado and $12 to OSJ.
