Are you referring to the resort in Puerto Rico?. If so, it is an upscale resort located about 30 miles east of San Juan. The nearest town is a few miles east - Fajardo. The hotel is very popular.

I am not a fan of the EL Conquistador. Stayed there one night after a Windjammer Cruise. Very upscale and very expensive, but then they nickel and dime you for everything. Food was very expensive and the resort is too isolated to really eat anywhere else (unless you have a car). If funds were unlimited, I'd stay there and play golf. But for me, it wasn't worth the money.

I did a lot of research before picking El C for vacation and while it has many good points (gorgeous property, excellent though expensive restaurants, fun casino) I do have a major complaint. When I am paying the kind of $ they are charging I do not want to go through any of the following
1. Get to the pier for my trip to the beach only to have the boat filled with people ahead and having to wait 30 min for the next boat in the sun
2. Stand on line on the beach for 45 min for an afternoon boat back to the hotel
3. spend 40 min on the boat because it is choppy or whatever
Can I say any more about the damn boat? This is a major drawback - a resort should have an accessible beach.

We stayed there in April 2000 for 4 days...had a great time but must agree with those who complain about being nickel and dimed. For what you spend just on a room there, you can stay at an all-inclusive (I just returned from Grand Lido Sans Souci in Jamaica) and not worry about food or drink prices. However, the quality of the food was very good, and we loved the facilities. See my review of El Conquistador at http://www.epinions.com/content_6491573892
