Eating on St. Thomas
Can anyone recommend a few really nice restaurants for lunch on St. Thomas? TIA!
|
the blue moon cafe at secret harbour resort www.bluemooncafevi.com or at the ritz.
|
Hervee's in Charlotte Amalie is my favorite place for lunch. They have delicious food, an extensive wine list and an outstanding view of the harbor. They are located directly up the hill from the open air market, removed just enough for a quiet, private lunch.

Hi,
Depending on where you are on the island there are some other options. I like Iggies right on the beach at Bolongo for lunch. Also, Funghi's right on the water at Point Pleasant. Cuzzin's or Glady's downtown are great for west indian food. And the bar/restaurant out at Hull Bay has great burgers....not fancy but the conversation is interesting. Schultz |
Would you recommend these places for dinner, also? And how about being appropriate for family dining, meaning 6 adults, a pre-schooler, and a 14 mo. old baby? Thank you!

really "nice?" AND TASTY :-)
where on st thomas? downtown, north, south, east, west ends?? Downtown really nice Glady's cafe Royal Dane complex--awesome! tough parking anywhere downtown. not family friendly. not open evenings. towards airport: Petit Pump Room awesome local cuisine, views, breezes...parking. Family friendly. not open evenings. Mexican: authentic at Fajitas at Carib Beach Resort near airport. Chef is a Mexican with great food. parking. Family freindly. open evenings-great sunset Solid ambiance, service, parking, and view of water: Portobello/Palms Restaurant at Emerald Beach Resort--near airport. Family freiendly.open evenings-great sunset Tickles at Crown Bay Marina....fresh fish platter is awesome. parking. Not terribly family friendly and very close to unguarded drop into marina water. open evenings. Herve's is a bit pretentious, overpriced for lunch and overated in my opinion-sorry...its "nice" though. no parking...walk up steep hill and steps. Not family friendly at all. open evenings. Morningstar Resort beach restaurant. parking. walk into beach bar down path...beautiful views and breezes and tasty. (near Marriott Frenchmans reef) family friendly East End red hook area. Lotus asian grill hands down---brand new and awesome. parking. family friendly for behaved children. open evenings. Ritz carlton beach side terrace.parking. family friendly at lunch only. Sushi at night at Beni iguab's-not family friendly with small kids. well behaved only. |
We enjoyed Old Stone Farmhouse.

We are staying on the Peterborg peninsula; are there any good restaurants nearby that would be "family friendly"? TIA!
|
Indigo at Magens Point Resort is close to Peterborg. North Drop is also close as is Old Stone Farmhouse.
It's still only a 10-15 minute ride or so from where you are staying into Red Hook so you have all the places along the route to choose from also. Romano's, Toad and Tart, Funghi's, Agave, etc. Schultz |
Thanks, Schultz; having never been there, it's hard to judge distances. Sounds as though nothing is very far, and that's good!

Greenhouse is right downtown - not fancy but the food is always good and they have early bird specials with appetizers and drinks as well as food that the little guys would eat. It is right on the waterfront so there is lots of people watching and it is open air. We always go there but also like Iggy's. There is also something where the cable car is ( at the top ) the kids might like that - have not heen there for several years.

We just came back from St Thomas on 2/10. For dinner we thought the food was wonderful at Mims and East End Cafe. The Banana Tree was also very classy with great food and view but very pricey. Good Luck

For breakfast or lunch, try Wikked in the new Yacht Haven Grande just past the cruise ship dock toward town. Easy parking also. They don't have their act together yet with spotty service at dinner but it's great for breakfast & lunch.
If you're there at breakfast, try the scones. |
I'm afraid I am guilty of hijacking this thread, but I really appreciate all of the suggestions. June can't come soon enough, especially after this past few weeks of wretched weather in the NE.
|
Or, to be more grammatically correct, these past few weeks. . .
