Duns River Falls Without a Tour?

My DS and I are staying in Ocho Rios one day off a cruise ship in October. We'd like to go to Duns River Falls and THEN decide if we want to walk the falls. Is there an economical way to get transportation there, buy our own entry, and leave when we want? Thanks.

yes, there is just get a taxi on your own. Its cheeper and much better.

I will add that I highly advise doing the tour for the actual climbing of the falls. The tour guides will take fabulous photos of you with your own camera. Due to the amounts of water on the falls, they are shots that would be very difficult to get on your own without getting the camera equipment wet.

Will there be taxi's at the pier when we get off the ship? And again at the falls for getting back?

Or is it better to line up transportation with a tour company?

Thanks for the info! Now, how long will it take to get there, and should we allow an hour or more to walk the falls? Approximate taxi fare? Will we need to wait for others to 'fill up' a taxi?

Don't know about the taxi fare but you can actually walk on the "One Love trail" (a sidewalk)...though that would be long.

I'd allow 2 hours for the falls. You want to climb a bit, chill in the pools on the way up, maybe do the beach at the bottom...
