Dunn's River Falls - Must See?
My H and I will be in Negril for our honeymoon and we are wondering if we should make a side trip to see Dunn's River Falls? I know it is far away from Negril, so we would probably do this at the end of our trip and tack on a night or two in Ocho Rios so we could see the falls.
I have heard they are beautiful, but are they a must see? Especially if it means leaving Negril (Rock House) a day or two early to fit it in? I understand there are other falls closer to Negril that might be worth visting instead? Thanks!! |
If I was in Negril, I would not make the trip. We've done the Falls--they are a fun stop if you are on a cruise that stops in Ocho Rios.
I didn't think they were a "must see" |
Not worth it. It is a tourist trap and certainly not a must see. . .

I replied to your other post, but no, I would not leave the incredible views etc of The Rock House to go to tourist central, Dunns Falls.
|
Instead make a day trip to the Mayfield Falls or the YS Falls from Negril. We did both and enjoyed it.
I wouldn't trek 2 hours just to see Dunn's River Falls. In the event you plan a vacation and stay in the area of Ocho Rios, then I would put it on my to-see list at that time. |
Skip it. Tourist trap. Not a wow. Besides you can't see it because of the swarm of people around it.

I second Mayfield Falls. Just got back from Jamaica and doing that and it was fabulous!

We did YS Falls when were in Negril and enjoyed it very much. There are various day trips you can do in Jamaica. We did 3 of them and used Talk of The Town Tours. They were wonderful. Our favorite day trip was the wild dolphins and the Pelican Bar. Take a look at our report and maybe it can help you decide what you'd like to do: http://www.nbptravel.com/Jamaica.html
