Drinking the water in Bahamas

My fiance and I are going to the Bahamas for the first time (for both of us)...we have a naive-travelers question...can we drink the water? Thank you!

I drank the water and had no bad effects from it. I tend to like bottled water, so if you are weary of it, then just buy bottled.

There's no problem drinking the water in the Bahamas.

It depends on where you are in the Bahamas, some of the outer island, or "family islands" have brackish water out of the tap and the hotels will provide bottled drinking water.

If you are on Nassau or Freeport the water is fine and you won't have any problems.

Have A GREAT TIME!!

I remember the H2O being OK but it also had an iron taste to it. Maybe things have changed. It any case it will not make you ill.

When I went on the guided tour through Nassau, our tour guide explained the taste in the water. Apparently they are only able to desalinize the water to 95% (5% still contains salt). This accounts for the strange taste.

It is completely safe to drink, although my boyfriend and I both experienced minor stomach problems that we attributed to the water change.
