dress requirements

We are going to PR in 2 weeks, staying at the Hyatt. Am I understanding correctly that there seems to be a dress code?? The evenings seem to be dressy, with men required to wear jackets? What about in the casino?

When I was there many years ago, men wore tuxedos or suits to the Casino. The Casino was very formal.

All of the casinos were formal attire many years ago as were the resorts where dressing for dinner was the rule. Now it is very unlikely to find a place (but there are a few) that still request jackets when dining or in the public areas after a certain time in the evening. It would surprise me that the Hyatt is one of them but a call to your travel agent or the hotel should clairfy that. Most dress codes are for collared shirts, long pants and closed shoes for the men at the resorts that still have them in place.

We just returned from Puerto Rico. Yes, people get dressed up in the evenings for dinner and the casino. We stayed at the Hilton Ponce and most often people were nicely dressed in the casino at night although I did not notice a dress code. However at the Intercontinental in San Juan, there was a posted dress code which stated no shorts, sandals, etc. after 7 o'clock at night in the lobby or casino. Most people in the casino were nicely dressed, some men wore nice shorts and shirts anyway, a few with jackets, but we did not see a tuxedo at all except at the Hilton because there were several weddings and the wedding party decided to try their luck at the slots! Have a fabulous time - we did!
