Dress code in restaurants?

We're going to Melia Caribe in Punta Cana and I can swear I've seen something about the dress code in restaurants. I understand the no swimsuits thing but are jeans ok?

I remember: no tshirts, flip flops or sandals.

IE: Men must wear polo shirts and khakis.

The buffett is more informal.

We stayed at Paradisus last summer and in the nicer restaurants at the resort it was mandatory for men to wear long pants....my son who was 13 at the time was denied admittance until he put long pants on....pretty silly, but the rule. Have fun...Punta Cana was beautiful!
