dress code

husband and i Are making are first all inclusive trip this year. my questions are about dress? see he likes me to wear high heels and i a wondering how feasable this may be. or out of place. shed some light please?

You don’t say which island or resort you are planning to visit but generally speaking tou’ll Find high heels are much too “dressy” and impractical for footwear in the Caribbean. Women will be better served wearing flats or sandals.

you should look at your resort’s website - there will usually be a section outlining their particular dress code. Doubt you’ll find anyplace in the Caribbean that requires high heels.

No one will stop you from wearing high heels at an all inclusive resort in the Caribbean. But yes you will be "out of place" compared to other guests. A city destination would likely work better if you like nightlife and dressing up.

No one will criticize you for wearing something your husband likes to see you in, either.

Where are you going? Which resort? I have been to all inclusive resorts in the DR and Mexico where some women REALLY dressed up. Do what makes you comfortable.

Thanks for all the info. we are going to the DR. I dont mind the heels, but i believe it will be the clothing(dresses) that he will bring along. Heels are much of my daily wear here at home.

I had to chuckle just a bit. When most "newbies" to the Caribbean ask about dress codes they are hoping for answers that say the can dress more casually. Your question is just the opposite.

As others have stated, no one will criticize you for being too "dressed up" so, if it pleases you wear your high heels and appropriate dresses but don't be surprised if most of the other women are wearing simple sundresses or a skirt & blouse or pants and blouse with sandals or flats.

Also remember the weather. Depending when and where your trip happens it could be warm to HOT. Whatever the styles... you want dresses that are appropriate for the Tropics!

I don't think you will be out of place in DR AI resort if you dress up. Based on my personal experience I think women tend to dress up more at an AI than for example a beach resort in the Bahama out islands.

Yes, Sundresses will be worn, with sandals with a heel. my husband has ordered me new sun dresses and i should have them in a few days.

So you asked about AI cruises in the cruise forum. Have you decidedl against that?

If if you like to dress up for dinner you can but do factor in the likely warm temps. Smart casual is probably a better option.
