Drastic Delta Schedule Change

Does anyone know why Delta has stopped serving the Atlanta/ Barbados route 4 days per week? The schedule shows only 5 days in March, 8 days in April, and 4 days in May?

This has been happening over the last month. We got hit in the cancellations and would appreciate any information. Delta gave the standard "flights are cancelled for things such as weather issues, equipment issues, etc.

Thanks,
mhc

That's Delta for ya! Their schedules have been changing like this for a while now.

The last time we flew DL to BDS the flight was half full. We wondered how long it would last.

Peace, Greenie

I can see the change if the seats weren't being sold.

Our flight was about 60% booked in mid Jan. I thought that was pretty good for a mid May flight, but maybe it wasn't.

Thanks for the reply.

mhc, did you book through Orbitz or an online booking agent? If you did, you may want to find yourself a suitable flight, then call them and see if they will change it to a different airline for you. Orbitz did that for us with a Hawaii cancellation - they sent me an unsuitable "substitute" itinerary. So I found a better one online, and called them and they were very nice about changing it. By the way, if they aren't, thank them, hang up, and call back to get another, hopefully more agreeable agent.

If you booked directly with Delta, then you are stuck unfortunately. This stuff happens when booking far ahead of time, especially with remote places like the Caribbean, driven by the market/seasons.

Best of luck to you.

Joan,

Yes. Orbitz has always been good to us too.

We used Delta FF for this trip. Was May 17-26, now it's May 18-25. Expected some timeshifts, but not lost days.

Our friends booked the same trip with NW miles. They were able to re-book with a Delta/American Eagle combination. No option for us as Delta ended the part. with Air Jamaica and is not a part. with Am. Eagle.

We can re-book closer and purchase the extra leg, but I'm really hoping there will be another shift.

It's disappointing, but 7 days in Barbados is still a good thing!

Delta actually added some March flights to Barbados - increased from 5 to 10. Perhaps there's still hope for a few more flights in May!
