We went there a few years ago. Nice location on a pretty beach. The resort is very large. We had a huge condo right at the beach. Grounds near our unit were nicely cared for. They were undergoing major renovation and construction when we were there. Hotel restaurant was not open, although the kitchen was, so meals were served in the lobby area. The other property restaurant had limited hours. The main shopping and restaurant plaza was a distance away. There was not much there at the time. It seemed as if it was a bit deserted. The casino, at that time, was small and also away from the main property. I think it was in a temporary location since they were also renovating that area. Keep in mind this was about three years ago, so things could be very different now. It was a peaceful place and in a good spot to take drives from there around the island - beautiful scenery up the mountain roads! We enjoyed staying there.

We stayed there in a condo with friends over Columbus Day. If you are not renting a car, consider getting a golf cart to navigate around the resort if you are not staying in the hotel itself. It's pretty big and things seemed rather spread out. We had brunch in the hotel restaurant--very good, and dinner at a restaurant by the marina--casual with good food. Enjoy your trip!

Hi Mike,
Palmas Del Mar was like my 2nd home for several years. My family had a timeshare and we went for the last 2 weeks of every year. You are going to have a blast. It has changed a lot, but for the better. Several different restaurants, tennis, golf, horseback riding on the beach, fishing trips, sailing. Check with the conceirge for events that are scheduled as well.
Have fun.
My fiance and I stayed there in April and it seemed as if most of the contstruction was done. The grounds are pretty spread out and if you're staying in the hotel, you can take a shuttle bus to various parts of the resort. Go to Sebastian's for dinner one night. It's a small place, so make reservations but the food was great. Also good was Hermes in the country club but very expensive...But I'd still make my fiance take me back for the best filet mignon I've ever tasted!
