If you're looking for good beaches in the D.R., I would recommend Punta Cana or La Romana. If you try Punta Cana, the Iberostar Bavaro is a good choice, as well as the Catalonia. Haven't stayed in either one myself but have seen them in passing. La Romana has great beaches as well but it's a bit on the boring side, if you're looking to just get away, I think that would be a good choice. I would recommend a hotel called the Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus. Fairly new property, large, beautiflly appointed, good food, nice pool.

Hi-have only been once. Went to Puerta Plata. Loved the people, sun and palm trees but have to say as much as I loved the aqua blue water-the beach itself is a bit crowded and not like the white sand in Cuba. Maybe this will help you eliminate this area. Have fun!!!!
